Every concept builds from one idea: Astra is the star and Rad is the ray, so the mark is a point of light that also reads as radiographic emission, a single focus every line resolves to.

Read the favicon badge. The 16px and 32px favicon strip inside each panel is the designer and critic read: if the mark holds up at that size, on both dark and light, it survives the browser tab. That strip is where these five separate.

Ray Star. Eight rays fire from a single focal dot — four long cardinal rays in accent cyan, four short ink diagonals — so the mark is simultaneously a star (Astra) and radiographic emission lines (radius / Rad), tapering thick-to-thin like a collimated beam. The center dot is the read: the one point every ray resolves to, echoing a radiologist’s signed focus. The alternating long/short rhythm keeps four bold strokes dominant, so the glyph stays unmistakable at 16px while the faint aperture ring and finer diagonals reward the 96px hero.

North Star. A sharp four-point navigational star - long vertical and horizontal points, pinched short diagonals - carrying the "your trusted guide" positioning that anchors the human-signed clinical promise. A single 1px scan line crosses dead center as a quiet radiology cue (the reading-room monitor sweep); it stays subtle so the star reads cleanly at 16px favicon size and holds up monochrome, in cyan, or inverse. Astra (star) and Rad (ray) resolve into one guiding emission point.

Aster is the most reduced expression of the naming insight: a six-arm geometric asterisk where star (Astra) and radiating ray (Rad) are literally the same shape. The asterisk is also the glyph radiologists mark directly on an image, so the mark reads as a clinical annotation, not decoration. Built from three round-capped strokes on a single center, it stays crisp and legible from a 16px favicon to a 96px hero, works in one ink color, and gains a cyan center dot as its only accent flourish.

Aperture Orbit. A crisp six-point aster (Astra = star, the asterisk that annotates every image) sits dead-center inside two thin rings that read at once as a camera-lens aperture and a celestial orbit - optics meeting the cosmos, the emitted rays of radiology. The cyan core carries the accent while the ink rings hold structure, so the mark stays monochrome-safe. At favicon scale the inner ring drops to a single bold aperture ring plus a slightly enlarged star, keeping the eye clean at 16px where two hairlines would muddy.

Rationale. The mark is literally the initial: two rising strokes form the peak of an "A," and the counter's crossbar anchors it as a letter - so the glyph reads as both AstraRad's first letter and an upward apex of precision. A four-point star-spark (an aster, "little star") rides the tip, fusing Astra (star) with Rad (ray/emission) at the single highest point of the letterform. It stands alone as a favicon at 16px, locks tightest of all concepts into the wordmark by replacing the leading "A," and stays fully legible in a single ink.
